The day was Saturday 7th September, 2013 and the
venue was Golden Tulip Hotel, Festac. 21 gorgeous and
intelligent damsels who represented different
institutions from all over Nigeria were set to slug it out
for the highly coveted position of Miss University
Nigeria 2013. It came as a shock to Miss Omoye Mary
Omobhude when she was adjudged the winner of the
pageant. She will go on to represent Nigeria in
November at the International World Miss University
Contest in Seoul Korea.
Omoye Omobhude is a final year student of Redeemers
University studying International relations. She thrilled
the audiences and the judges who respected her
charisma and impeccable diction and that is why she
was crowned the queen of Nigerian universities. She
went home with a brand New Ford Edge May 2013
edition ride worth N8 million as a record breaking star
Prize for being crowned the World Miss University
Nigeria 2013. She was also given a brand new
BlackBerry Q10 and 3000 in solid hard Benjamins. I’m
talking dollars baby!
According to the organizers of the beauty, “The WMUN
contest, which aims at harmonizing students of various
tertiary institutions in Nigeria, motivates young female
undergraduate towards the attainment of a desired
goal.
“The pageant further creates an opportunity to curtail
indecency, and restore the moral pride and dignity of
Nigerian students, encouraging an exhibition of modest
etiquette.”
